Can You Use Apple ID Money for Xbox Games
You cannot normally use Apple ID money, now called Apple Account balance, to buy games directly from the Xbox Store. That balance belongs to Apple's purchasing system; it does not become Microsoft account credit simply because you use an iPhone or sign into an Xbox-related app.
The important distinction is between the device you use and the company processing the payment. I would check the checkout screen and the destination of a gift card before adding money to either account. An Apple balance and an Xbox balance are separate, even when the accounts use the same email address.

Check which company actually bills the purchase.
An Apple balance and a Microsoft balance remain separate.
Identify what kind of money you actually have
An Apple Gift Card can add value to an Apple Account under the applicable regional terms. A Microsoft or Xbox gift card adds value to the relevant Microsoft account. Neither name is a generic label for money that every gaming storefront accepts.
If someone says they have Apple money, ask whether they mean redeemed Apple Account balance, an unused gift card or an ordinary payment card stored in Apple Wallet. Those are different things, and the answer changes which checkout options are relevant.
Apple's account balance rules describe eligible Apple purchases and restrictions. App Store games and eligible in-app purchases fall within that system; buying a console game through Microsoft's checkout is a different transaction.
Apple Pay is not Apple Account balance
Apple Pay is a way to use eligible payment cards through Apple's payment interface. Apple Account balance is stored value associated with Apple's own purchasing system. The fact that both can appear on the same phone does not make them interchangeable.
If a merchant offers Apple Pay, inspect the actual funding method presented. Do not assume that the existence of an Apple Pay button means redeemed App Store credit can fund the purchase. The merchant and payment-card support determine what is available at that checkout.
Conversely, a normal bank card that you happen to keep in Wallet may have other ways to pay a merchant. That is about the card's acceptance, not converting Apple credit into Xbox credit. Keeping these concepts separate avoids an expensive misunderstanding before buying a gift card.
Buying on an iPhone does not change the seller
A browser can open a Microsoft checkout on an iPhone. The phone is displaying the page; it does not turn that purchase into an Apple-billed App Store transaction. Read the seller and available payment methods before confirming anything.
The same caution applies to apps. An app being downloaded from the App Store does not establish that every transaction associated with its account uses Apple in-app purchasing. Some activities can direct users to a separate merchant website or use a different billing relationship.
I would use the receipt and purchase history to identify who actually billed an existing transaction. That also tells you which company is the appropriate starting point for a billing question. Do not send one company another account's password or gift-card redemption code.
In-game currency needs a game-specific check
Some games have mobile versions with Apple-billed purchases. That does not establish a general route for buying Xbox Store games with Apple balance. At most, it raises a narrower question about a particular game's account and currency rules.
Before buying mobile currency for use elsewhere, verify whether that currency or item is shared between platforms. A shared login, crossplay and cross-save do not automatically imply a shared purchased-currency wallet. Restrictions can differ between earned currency, purchased currency and platform-specific content.
If the publisher does not explicitly document the transfer you want, do not treat a small test purchase as proof that a larger conversion will work. You may simply be buying something usable only in the mobile edition. This article does not recommend an indirect currency-conversion workaround.
Choose the correct credit before redeeming a card
If your aim is an Xbox Store purchase, inspect the supported Microsoft payment options in your market. If you choose an Xbox or Microsoft gift card, verify the currency, region, account and product terms before redemption.
An already redeemed Apple balance should not be treated as transferable Microsoft credit. Apple's balance rules also say that the balance cannot be used to send gifts or gift cards. Do not assume that buying another brand's gift card is an available escape route.
For an unused card, look at the original retailer's return policy and the card's terms before scratching or redeeming it. Return eligibility is not guaranteed. Contact the legitimate seller rather than a stranger offering an exchange that requires your account access.
Use a simple payment check before spending
First identify the merchant: Apple, Microsoft or a game's own payment provider. Next identify the funding source: a bank card, Apple Account balance or Microsoft account credit. Finally, verify the platform rights attached to the item being purchased.
These checks answer three different questions. A payment method can be accepted without the item granting the platform access you expected. Similarly, the correct Xbox edition can be displayed while your chosen stored-value balance is not an accepted payment method.
My recommendation is to add funds only after all three answers are clear. For this topic, the direct answer remains that ordinary Apple Account balance is not a general way to pay for Xbox Store games. Keeping the money in the right ecosystem is simpler than trying to undo a mistaken redemption.
Frequently asked questions
Can I transfer Apple Account balance to Microsoft?
There is no normal direct transfer that turns redeemed Apple Account credit into Microsoft account credit.
Does using the same email combine the balances?
No. The email can identify separate accounts with separate stores and balances.
Can Apple Pay use my App Store balance for Xbox?
Do not equate Apple Pay with Apple Account balance. Check the payment card and funding source offered by the actual merchant.
Can I buy a mobile game item and use it on Xbox?
Only if that specific game supports the relevant shared item or currency. Verify the publisher rules; it is not a general way to buy Xbox games.
Continue with the next check
Before buying another edition, check the PC ownership options to see whether a qualifying existing purchase already covers the platform you want.
